The numerous museums and artworks located on them are simply breathtaking, and every visit there feels like an art pilgrimage on its own.

An island where nature and art meet.

Naoshima is an island in the Seto Inland Sea, located between Kagawa and Okayama prefectures. Although it is an island in Kagawa Prefecture, it is closer to Okayama Prefecture, with boats to the island easily accessible from both Takamatsu Port and Uno Port (Tamano City). It is recommended to visit the Miyanoura area, the Honmura area, and the area around Benesse House.

The Chichu Art Museum, designed by Tadao Ando, is famous for its "Chichu no Niwa" (underground garden) reminiscent of Claude Monet's paintings. The "House Project" is an art project that transforms the space itself into a work of art. The Benesse House Museum is a museum where you can stay overnight and there are many other museums and outdoor art sites.

Naoshima is renowned island of art that embodies the qualities of the sea, nature, and modern architecture that all blend together as one to enhance each characteristic’s appeal. Each time you visit you will find something new to discover, along with a nostalgic feeling of Japan.
