About seventy-five years ago, our founder produced Japan's first domestic cotton swab. The method of making cotton swabs by crushing cotton into small pieces and gently wrapping them around a shaft like cotton candy was a delicate and precise manufacturing method unique to the Japanese. Even today, the roots of this method have not changed. However, we continue to challenge and innovate while passing down the techniques. A quarter of a century ago, when it was taboo to use black as a color for hygiene products, we were the first in Japan to mass produce the black cotton swab. Always respecting tradition, we continue to create one of the finest products with a spirit of challenge and customer satisfaction in mind. This is the “long-established Watamaki-ya” series that we have gotten.

Cotton swabs are usually packaged in cylindrical plastic containers, but we have adopted a paper package that is familiar to Japanese people, and are conscious of the fact that it is made in Japan. The two circles in the main visual represent “Wa” (harmony), which represents the transmission of technology, and “Kan” (circle), which represents harmony with everything that surrounds us. We have a lineup of nine types to meet the preferences of various customers. In order to highlight the techniques and thoughts behind each cotton swab, we dared to design only one swab on the front of the package. We have adopted a taste for mature customers, as if it were a kind of luxury item.
