Watching the magnificent sunsets on top of the Khongor Els Sand Dunes

The Khongor Els Sand Dunes are located in Umnugobi Province, 763 kilometers southwest of Ulaanbaatar City. These huge dunes cover an area of 965 square kilometers and are visible from any satellite image. From the top of the dune, you can get a wonderful view of the desert as well as experience the Congolin River flow through the desert, enriching the nearby oasis. The best time to take photos is during sunrise and sunset, as in other parts of the Gobi. Surprisingly, underthe midnight autumn moon, the dunes look impressive, if a bit eerie.
