A museum surrounded by nature, designed by I.M. Pei. The windows look like folding screens. Louis Vuitton held a show here in the past.

Located in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, the museum displays a collection of Japanese art and ancient art from around the world. It was designed by I.M. Pei, known for the famous glass pyramid in the Louvre Museum in Paris, and is based on the motif of the Chinese classic "The Peach Blossom Garden" by Tao Yuanming, and the story has been brought to life in Shigaraki.

The path from the entrance to the museum is filled with seasonal flowers, making it the perfect place for a stroll. After that, you will see a tunnel with silver walls and light projected from a certain distance, which is quite fantastic. The tunnel is a work of art in itself, changing its face as various colors are projected onto it, such as pink cherry blossoms in the spring, new records in the summer, and the setting sun in the evening.

The museum's collection includes about 3,000 pieces of ancient art from Egypt, Greece, Rome, West Asia, South Asia, China, the West, the Americas, as well as Buddhist art, paintings, lacquerware, ceramics, and other Japanese antiques.
