Yoko Choy
China Editor - Wallpaper* Magazine
Hong Kong
Specialising in design and lifestyle, Yoko Choy’s work to date has been published in more than 20 international titles. Born in Hong Kong, she is the China Editor for Wallpaper* magazine (global edition) as well as a writer for Chinese and international publications including Fortune, Hong Kong Economic Journal, online platform Urban Matters and more.
Currently based in Hong Kong and Amsterdam, East-meets- West is more to her than just an alignment of two aesthetic visions; her mission, as a multilingual and multicultural creative commentator and communicator, is to raise awareness of the importance of cross-cultural development in the creative industry, to translate the knowledge and insights from both worlds into a common creative language and to stimulate and inspire conversations between the two mentalities.
To this end, a recent project for which she has curated content is a Wallpaper* magazine initiative in collaboration with the China Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development Special Fund (CHSDF), a digital hub that tells the stories of heritage and contemporary creativity of China, discovering and acknowledging the ties between East and West, and promoting these cultural assets as an inspiration to the international creative community.
Yoko is also a highly regarded communications consultant who advises fairs, events, brands and creatives. She has worked for Art Basel on its launch in Hong Kong, curated exhibitions for Dover Street Market in Beijing, managed Beijing Design Week‘s international communications activities and is currently consulting an indigenous hospitality brand in China and representing MARIOTESTINO+ in Asia.
