Created from the desire to have more people enjoy traditional Japanese confectionary, Fly Me To The Moon is a new type of yōkan that integrates traditional manufacturing methods with modern taste and design of today. As a new way to enjoy Japanese sweets, cutting and diving the product depicts a perfect fusion of Japanese and Western style, along with the story of a blue bird that gradually stretches its wings and a landscape with a moon that slowly changes from crescent to full. The illustration and imagery was drawn by a Japanese artist, Reika Masuda. Using such motifs as characters to create a fairytale-like story evokes a certain level of expectation but also interaction, conveying a deeper worldview. Having the same title as Frank Sinatra’s jazz piece creates a more complex fun.
